About Meat Mechanics
Meat Mechanics combines practical engineering, calm problem-solving and honest advice to protect machinery, reduce downtime and support food businesses nationwide.
ABOUT MEAT MECHANICS
We don't just repair food machinery. We keep businesses producing.
Every breakdown has a ripple effect. Staff are standing around, orders are delayed, customers are waiting and money is being lost every minute. Our job is to remove that pressure by responding quickly, diagnosing accurately and repairing machinery properly.
That philosophy is the foundation of Meat Mechanics.
OUR STORY
Meat Mechanics began with a simple opportunity. After repairing a commercial mincer for a friend, Mark recognised a gap in the industry. Good engineers were becoming harder to find, and fewer people wanted to specialise in commercial food machinery.
What started with one machine has grown into a business trusted by butchers, supermarkets, pet food manufacturers and food processors across New Zealand.
Today, Meat Mechanics is built on one belief: if a machine can be repaired properly, it should be.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Anyone can replace a broken bearing.
We want to know why it failed.
Finding the root cause prevents repeat failures, reduces downtime and saves customers money over the long term. We don't believe in guesswork, unnecessary parts or temporary fixes. We repair machinery the way we'd want our own repaired.
MEET MARK - Founder
Hey, I'm Mark.
I started Meat Mechanics because I saw a need for a specialist who genuinely understands food processing machinery - not just how to repair it, but how important it is to keep businesses running.
I've spent most of my working life around engineering, mechanical problem-solving and emergency response. Those experiences taught me to stay calm under pressure, work safely and do the job properly the first time.
For me, it's never been about replacing parts. It's about understanding why something failed, fixing it properly and helping prevent it from happening again. I believe that's how long-term relationships are built.
When you call Meat Mechanics, you're dealing directly with someone who genuinely cares about your business. I understand that when your machinery stops, production stops too, so every breakdown is treated with urgency, professionalism and respect.
Outside of work, life is all about family and the outdoors. Whether I'm hiking in the Canterbury high country, abseiling down a cliff, flying RC aircraft, or spending time with my fiancée Sita and my son Hunter, I enjoy practical challenges and making the most of New Zealand. Those experiences keep me grounded and remind me why I work hard - to build a business I'm proud of and a future for my family.
At the end of the day, Meat Mechanics is built on a simple promise: turn up when we say we will, communicate honestly, work safely, and stand behind every repair.
We don't just repair machinery. We help keep production moving.
